Collaborating Against West Nile Virus: Multidisciplinary Outbreak Investigation Workshop
One of the awarded activites of our Call for Leadership Initiative is coming up! The "Regional Workshop on Multidisciplinary Field Outbreak Investigation," led by Dr. Wasfi Fares, biologist assistant at Institut Pasteur de Tunis, will take place from September 11th to 15th, 2023. This workshop brings together multisectoral professionals in human virology and medical entomology from Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya. The focus of this gathering is to collectively deepen the understanding of West Nile Virus outbreaks.
This initiative aims to promote standardized protocols and shared knowledge that enable participating institutions to promptly confirm virus cases and contribute to improved public health outcomes. Employing a multidisciplinary approach, the workshop merges expertise from human virology and medical entomology. Innovative techniques, such as nanopore technology, will be used to analyze virus circulation, identify strains, and trace transmission routes.
