Training on Sanger sequencing of arboviruses in Sarajevo

Fourth workshop of the Human Virology working group

MediLabSecure human virologists have delivered, in collaboration with the CIBU Pathogens Genotyping Platform team, a specific training on Sanger sequencing of arboviruses in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) from April 16-19th.

Focusing on 3 pathogens (Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika viruses), this training was performed in the Department of Microbiology of the University Clinical Center of Sarajevo and contributed to adapt protocols to the technical constraints of the local laboratory of Microbiology.

The data collected from this training have been then analysed during a « training by the trainee » exercise following the previous workshop on « Molecular Analysis and Phylogenetics » organised in October 2017 in Institut Pasteur in Paris.

Irma, the bosnian representative of the human virology network who participated to this workshop explained to her colleagues how to edit sequences and analyse them.

These three days also gave the opportunity to organize a site visit of the laboratory where MediLabSecure and CIBU teams met the laboratory staff, which presented their diagnostics and sequencing activities. This visit also allowed a better understanding of the strengths and limitation of the laboratory regarding the diagnostic capacities for arboviruses as well as an assessment of the good level of biosafety management.

The training report and other documents are available in the Private area
